The Order is a unique organization which seeks no benefit or advantage for itself or its members. It was established to promote the welfare of our Nation. Because it is clearly not a self-seeking organization, the military Order is widely-respected and listened to throughout all branches of government and across the country. The Order provides an opportunity for its members (i.e., its “Companions”) to unite in strong support programs for patriotic education, national security and good citizenship. Its members convey the thoughts and needs of the Armed Forces to the civilian population and interpret civilian sentiments to the Congress and to the leaders of the Armed Forces.
